MGB leads geohazards IEC campaign in Antique

The Mines and Geosciences Bureau (MGB) recently led the conduct of a Seminar-Workshop on the Results of Multi-hazard Mapping in the Province of Antique as part of its Information, Education and Communication (IEC) campaign aimed at increasing the level of awareness and preparedness of community leaders and educators on natural hazards.

MGB hosts mining conflict, dispute resolution confab

The Mines and Geosciences Bureau (MGB) recently hosted the Mines and Adjudication Board (MAB) and Panel of Arbitrators’ (PA) 3rd Seminar-Workshop on Mining Conflict/Dispute Resolution. The activity is part of the continuing education for the MAB and PA members and staff on the recent Executive Orders issued by the Executive Department, and jurisprudence promulgated by the Judiciary to further capacitate them in effectively resolving mining conflicts and disputes.

Mining royalties hit P763.66 M in H1 2015

MGB backs local jewelry industry bid for ISO compliance

In support of the Philippine jewelry industry’s move to become compliant with the standards prescribed by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO), the Mines and Geosciences Bureau (MGB), thru its Metallurgical Technology Division, provides the technical know-how on the analysis and identification of precious metals, alloying elements related to jewelry production, and the safe and environmentally sound extraction of these precious metals for the industry’s utilization.

Mining engineers of the Mines and Geosciences Bureau (MGB) Central and Regional Offices recently underwent a “Training on Design Monitoring and Closure of TSFs” on June 15-24, 2015 in Baguio City conducted by the International Mining for Development Centre (IM4DC), an agency established by The University of Western Australia and The University of Queensland in partnership with the Australian Government through the Australian Aid initiative.

Western seaboard under threat against coastal hazards as Habagat intensifies

With the onset of rainy season and the prevalence of the southwest monsoon, western seaboard towns are likely to experience coastal flooding, erosion and landslides. People living near the coasts of La Union, Zambales, Pangasinan and Ilocos provinces coast are constantly living under the threat of these hazards due to the effects of strong Habagat and the recent parade of typhoons (Egay, Falcon, Nangka) that brought storm surges, gusty winds and huge waves.
