Jasareno advocates women’s rights at MGB

Mines and Geosciences Bureau (MGB) Director Leo L. Jasareno is a staunch Gender and Development (GAD) advocate. During this Women’s Month celebration, he openly expressed support for having more female leaders in the agency. He said that it is high time to junk the conservative mind-set that leadership is a man’s turf.

Southern Negros Occidental losing 9.5 hectares of land annually

Coastal geohazards assessment and shoreline mapping conducted by the Mines and Geosciences Bureau in several cities and municipalities in Negros Occidental reveals that the southern coast of the region had been losing approximately 9.5 hectares to coastal erosion annually in the past 58 years.

MGB addresses fears of illegal black sand mining

Mines and Geosciences Bureau (MGB) Director Leo L. Jasareno took an immediate action following reports of the resumption of black sand mining operations in Barangay Pantay Tamurong, Caoyan, Ilocos Sur. Upon investigation, the reported operation turned out to be rehabilitation/reclamation and maintenance works undertaken by Isla Verde Mining involving an eroded riverbank at the heights of typhoon "Mario".

DBM upgrades MGB Legal Staff to Legal Division

The Department of Budget and Management approved the Notice of Staffing and Classification Action (NOSCA) of the Mines and Geosciences Bureau (MGB) prompting the upgrading of its Legal Staff to Division status. The approval of the NOSCA is under the Government Rationalization Program Pursuant to Executive Order No. 366.
