For being transported without the appropriate documentation, twenty tons of copper ore were seized recently by a composite team in Sitio Sili-Sili, Pagatpat, Cagayan de Oro City, in line with the government’s drive to implement strictly pertinent mining regulations, particularly Chapter XII of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources Administrative Order No. 2010-21.

The team, headed by Edwin I. Dael, City Local Environment and Natural Resources Officer, was composed of personnel from the Mines and Geosciences Bureau Regional Office No. X, officials of barangay Pagatpat, Cagayan de Oro City, and elements of the Philippine National Police - Bulua Station.

During its joint operation last January 21, the team accosted a 20-footer trailer-truck with plate number KVX-956. Upon initial investigation, it was learned that said minerals were allegedly owned by a certain Arthur M. Tenebro of Pagatpat, CDO City. Tenebro presented an Ore Transport Permit (OTP) that appeared to be expired.

The OTP is a permit granted to a Contractor, accredited dealer, retailer, processor and other Permit Holders to transport minerals/mineral products.

The confiscated ores and conveyances were brought to the City Engineers Office in Kauswagan, Cagayan de Oro City for safekeeping and custody pending further investigation.
