The Mines and Geosciences Bureau Gender and Development Focal Point System (MGB-GFPS) held the Training/Workshop on the 2024 GAD Accomplishment Report and Pre-Testing of the Interview Schedule for DENR Sectoral Baseline Data Gathering from January 28 to 31, 2025, at Park Inn by Radisson, North Edsa, Quezon City, and via Microsoft Teams.

Just as tectonic plates converge to shape the Earth’s landscapes, geologists from the Mines and Geosciences Bureau (MGB) come together to strengthen the systems governing Philippine geosciences through the annual Geoscience Workshop. This event serves as the primary platform for MGB geologists to standardize methodologies, discuss project deliverables, and chart future directions for various geoscience programs. It fosters consultation and knowledge-sharing to refine existing strategies and enhance nationwide geoscience initiatives.

The Mines and Geosciences Bureau–Metallurgical Technology Division (MGB-MeTD) underwent an inspection and monitoring process conducted by the Professional Regulatory Board of Metallurgical Engineering (PRB) on February 21, 2025. The inspection team, led by PRB Chairperson Hon. Agustin M. Fudolig, alongside PRB Member Hon. Juancho Pablo S. Calvez and Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) National Capital Region representative Ms. Mary Rose B. Lacandazo, conducted a comprehensive evaluation according to relevant professional regulations, recommending MGB-MeTD for the issuance of the PRC Certificate of Compliance, which is pending official awarding.

The Philippine Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (PH-EITI) spearheaded a side event at the 2025 Open Government Partnership (OGP) Asia-Pacific Regional Meeting, focusing on data interoperability and transparency in the extractive sector. Held on February 4-5, 2025, at the UP College of Law in Bonifacio Global City, Taguig, the event brought together key stakeholders from government agencies, civil society, and the mining industry to discuss strategies for improving data accessibility and governance.
