The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC), through the Office of Civil Defense, administered the 3rd Quarter National Simultaneous Earthquake Drill (NSED) last September 16, 2021. The national campaign is focused on increasing the participation of the general public in promoting both individual and family earthquake preparedness towards community resilience, with the integration of public health measures and standards in the conduct of NSED amidst the new normal. Employees from the Mines and Geosciences Bureau dutifully participated in the online event, as well.

The welcome remarks was delivered by Mr. Hernando M. Caraig, Jr., Assistant Secretary, Civil Defense Deputy Administrator for Administration and Executive Director, NDRRMC.

Several messages from officials and representatives of partner organizations and national government agencies were carried out right before the ceremonial pressing of the button. An entertaining video providing additional information on earthquake preparedness and earthquake safety was played as well. The program officially ended following the closing remarks by Atty. Tecson John S. Lim, Director, Capacity Building and Training Service, Office of Civil Defense.
