The Mines and Geosciences Bureau (MGB) recently hosted the Mines and Adjudication Board (MAB) and Panel of Arbitrators' (PA) 3rd Seminar-Workshop on Mining Conflict/Dispute Resolution. The activity is part of the continuing education for the MAB and PA members and staff on the recent Executive Orders issued by the Executive Department, and jurisprudence promulgated by the Judiciary to further capacitate them in effectively resolving mining conflicts and disputes.

Sixteen personalities composed of members of the academe, government service and practitioners from the University of the Philippines Law Center - Institute for the Administration of Justice were tapped to be the resource speakers for the event.

The topics discussed in the event include the latest legal trends, jurisprudence, and rules and regulations including those connected with resolving conflicts in line with the MAB and PA's functions.

Said Seminar-Workshop qualifies the lawyer-participants for credits under the Mandatory Continuing Legal Education (MCLE) as required by the Supreme Court for the legal profession. The technical members of the MAB and PA mostly composed of mining engineers also learned significant legal concepts to better equip them as members of the PA.

The said activity was held from July 13 to 17, 2015 at the ICON Hotel, Quezon City.
