Mines and Geosciences Bureau (MGB) Director Atty. Wilfredo G. Moncano was awarded the 2022 Outstanding Professional of the Year Award in the field of Mining Engineering from the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) and the Foundation for Outstanding Professionals Inc. during the national awarding ceremony of the 2022 PRC AWARDS on July 29, 2022 at the Fiesta Pavilion, Manila Hotel.

With the theme “PRC@49: Forging ahead towards Professionalism, Resiliency, and Competitiveness”, PRC continues to grant awards to various professionals from different professional fields who have shown competence and made notable contributions to the development of their respective professions.

According to PRC, the Outstanding Professional of the Year Award is the highest award bestowed by the Professional Regulation Commission upon a professional as recommended by his/her peers for having sufficiently demonstrated professional competence of the highest degree and conducted himself/herself with integrity in the exercise of his/her profession.

Prior to being designated as the head of MGB, Dir. Moncano was previously the Regional Director Officer-In-Charge (OIC) of MGB Regional Office No. XI since July 30, 2015. He also held the position of Senior Science Research Specialist and OIC of the Mine Management Division in the same office and was a practicing mining engineer in the private sector before joining the government.
