The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) spearheaded a three-day multi-stakeholders forum held at the Diamond Hotel in Manila last October 05-07, 2022. The forum’s objective was to enable inclusive dialogues across all DENR stakeholders—where the stakeholders’ share their experiences working with the different national government agencies, forge partnerships amongst each other, and identify the multi-stakeholder initiatives which apply science, technology, and innovation to achieve unique values across different sectors.
Before the event, the Mines and Geosciences Bureau sent selected employees to attend the training at the DENR Social Hall in preparation to be documenters for the forum. The purpose is to gather issues and concerns from the participants during the forum.

President Ferdinand Romualdez Marcos Jr. opened the said forum with his keynote speech in an effort to find solutions and mitigate the effects of climate change and other environmental challenges confronting the nation. The President expressed his confidence with the attendees of the forum to encourage cooperation and gather information on priorities for possible inclusion in the DENR policy agenda and praised the DENR for its efforts in organizing an inclusive dialogue with the international organizations, business institutions, non-government organizations and civil society advocates.

In his speech, the President stated, “As your President, I assure you that our environment and our country’s resiliency and adaptation to the new normal of climate change are on top of the national agenda,” ending with his proclamation that we are not soldiers, but stewards in this collective fight—and that there will be no weapons used, but solely behaviors and practices to improve upon.
