Ten (10) chemists from the Mines and Geosciences Bureau Central Office attended the 36th Philippine Chemistry Congress held virtually last September 29 to October 1, 2022 hosted by Philippine Association of Chemistry Teacher Inc. (PACT) in partnership with the Philippine Federation of Chemistry Societies (PFCS). This annual convention was participated by chemists, chemical technicians, chemistry teachers and chemical engineers from different chapters nationwide from local and international industries, academe and government sectors, as well as chemistry undergraduate and graduate students.
The theme of this year’s event, “CHEM+: Solutions, Stability and Sustainability”, is a call to all sectors of society for an integrated, collaborative and multidisciplinary approach in providing stable and sustainable solution to national and global challenges. It highlighted how chemistry is vital for a sustainable future at the forefront in the field of health, policies and safety, environment and green solution, food, energy, materials, education, industry and technology.
The congress provides online platform thru simultaneous breakout sessions from international and local experts of various fields to share their knowledge and expertise with the Philippine chemistry community. This includes sessions from the fields of Analytical Chemistry, Environmental, Food Chemistry, Organic, Biochemistry. Physical, Inorganic Chemistry and Chemical Education. Resource speakers were from local and international industries, academe and government sectors.
A total of 75 lectures and researches were shared and 80 posters were presented during the 3-day event.
