Twelve (12) mining companies were announced recipients of the coveted 2022 Presidential Mineral Industry Environmental Awards (PMIEA) during the final deliberation of the PMIEA Selection Committee (PMIEA SC) on October 27, 2022 at the Mines and Geosciences Bureau (MGB) Multi-Purpose Building. The following companies won the 2022 PMIEA:
Through Executive Order No. 399, series of 1997, PMIEA is conferred every year to mining companies that have exhibited exemplary performance in terms of safety and health, environmental protection and enhancement, and social development (SHES) management. A total of 29 mining companies under Underground Mining Operation, Surface Mining Operation, Quarry Operation, and Mineral Processing Operation categories underwent stringent assessment and validation of the PMIEA SC and its Technical Working Group last September 19 – October 22, 2022. The PMIEA SC also bestowed the PMIEA SC Platinum and Titanium Achievement Awards to acknowledge the high degree of effort of mining companies in SHES management albeit fell short of the required rating for the PMIEA. Alongside the PMIEA, the National Executive Committee (NEC) of the Mining Forest Program (MFP) declared the winners of the 2022 Best Mining Forest Contest (BMFC) during its final deliberation last October 26, 2022 at the MGB Multi-Purpose Building. The winners and runners-up of the 2022 BMFC are the following:
The BMFC aims to recognize the commitment of the mining companies in their progressive rehabilitation and reforestation initiatives through their MFP. The implementation of the MFP is in line with the Department of Environment and Natural Resources Administrative Order (DAO) No. 22, series of 1989, and NEC Resolution No. 2005-02.

The above-mentioned companies and personalities will be recognized during the Testimonial Dinner/Annual Awards Night of the 68th Annual National Mine Safety and Environment Conference (ANMSEC) on November 18, 2022 at CAP – John Hay Trade & Cultural Center Main Hall A & B, Baguio City.
