Chemists from the Mines and Geosciences Bureau Central Office attended an online event hosted by  the Integrated Chemists of the Philippines, in celebration of the Chemistry Week, which was held last February 13-14, 2023. The theme for this year’s webinar is “Careers in Chemistry: Careers in the Central Science” held virtually via Zoom platform.

The webinar discussed the highlights of the Republic Act No. 10657, also known as the “Chemistry Profession Act.” It also discussed the different careers for chemists and chemical technicians in the academe, government,   industry entrepreneurship, research, and among others. The speakers shared their professional and personal experiences in their respective sectors. They discussed the opportunities where chemists and chemical technicians can explore and share possible solutions to challenges where chemistry professionals can take part in.

The said event concluded with a lecture on Chemistry and Sustainability by the 2015 PFCS Awardee for Chemical Research and an academician of the National Academy of Science and Technology,  Dr. William Padolina.
