The Mines and Geosciences Bureau (MGB), through its Legal Services Division, recently conducted the "Orientation/Seminar on Government Procurement Laws and Procedures" aimed at ensuring that MGB employees are well-versed with government procurement rules and regulations.
The intensive five-day seminar was conducted in line with MGB's commitment to keep its employees well-informed in order to capacitate them and ensure competitiveness in the public service.
Atty. Raymond Velicaria, Engr. Gilbert Mondroy and Mr. Ariel Abellonar from the Department of Environment and Natural Resources served as the resource persons. The said speakers are accredited Government Procurement Policy Board trainers.
The topics discussed during the week-long event were:

- Procurement Planning and Monitoring;
- Standard Bidding Procedures for Goods and Infrastructure Projects;
- Protest Mechanism and Blacklisting;
- Alternative Methods of Procurement; and
- Philgeps Posting and Updates.
At the same time, the MGB Finance Division also conducted a workshop on MGB's 2016 Financial Plan in relation to each Division's Project Procurement Management Plan.
At the end of the seminar, the participants were given a written examination on the matters discussed.
The event was held from September 22 to 26, 2015 at the Icon Hotel, Quezon City.
