The Junior Society of Metallurgical Engineers of the Philippines (JSMEP) organized an online culminating activity with the theme "MetE: An Epilogue to Mark a New Chapter" on May 04, 2023, via Zoom. This event, hosted by the Department of Chemical Engineering at Batangas State University (BatStateU), aimed to provide an opportunity for bonafide Bachelor of Science (BS) in Metallurgical Engineering students and faculty members of the Department of Chemical Engineering to showcase their knowledge and experiences gained throughout the school year. The activity featured three engaging components: Quiz Bee, Time Capsule, and Metemazing. Importantly, the event was open to all legitimate BatStateU-TNEU BS Metallurgical Engineering students.
During the event, Engr. Bernardo V. Bitanga, OIC-Chief of the MGB Metallurgical Technology Division, graced the occasion as a guest resource speaker for the motivational talk segment. Engr. Bitanga shared personal insights and experiences from his own journey to becoming a metallurgical engineer. He candidly admitted that metallurgy wasn't his initial choice when selecting a program at Mapua Institute of Technology. However, it proved to be the best decision he made. Engr. Bitanga encouraged the aspiring engineers to set aside any reservations they might have and wholeheartedly pursue their chosen field. He emphasized that the field of metallurgy offers exciting opportunities for those who embrace it.

In his closing remarks, Engr. Bitanga urged the students to seize the day and strive for excellence in all their endeavors. He emphasized the importance of surrounding oneself with good people and sharing knowledge. Engr. Bitanga concluded his talk by expressing his best wishes to the participants and their future endeavors. He inspired them to embrace challenges, maintain an open mind, and stay committed to their goals. He highlighted that through hard work, dedication, and a passion for learning, they possess the power to make a positive impact on the world. In a final encouraging note, he urged them to step out boldly and leave their mark.
