As the governing agency leading the Philippine minerals industry, the Mines and Geosciences Bureau (MGB) joined in the 12th China-ASEAN Mining Cooperation Forum & Exhibition (CAMCF), occurring from May 17-21, 2023, at Nanning, China.
With the theme, “Promoting China-ASEAN Geosciences Cooperation, Serving Regional Sustainable Development of Geology and Mining Industry”, MGB along with other member countries from the Association of Southeast Asian Nations attended the event to discuss issues on the development and use of new mining and geology technologies; trade and cooperation within the China-ASEAN minerals industry; and the development of a more sustainable and greener mining industry.
MGB’s representative, Ms. Liza Socorro J. Manzano, Chief of the Lands and Geological Survey Division, presented the Philippines’ latest developments in mining and geology, and other government tasks in relation to the minerals industry.
According to the State Council of the People’s Republic of China, the exhibition garnered approximately 1,100 participants from mining authorities, enterprises and business associations in China and ASEAN.
It aims to promote conferences for global mining companies by providing comprehensive, consistent, and readily available information on the mineral prospectivity and investment environment within ASEAN Member States to the mining companies in China and other countries.
Organized by the Ministry of Natural Resource of China, CAMCF has taken place 11 times since 2010 and more than 160 agreements have been signed totaling more than 66 Billion yuan (about 9.4 Billion U.S. dollars).
