On June 15, 2023, the Mines and Geosciences Bureau (MGB), together with the various Selection Committees, announced the Call for Nominees among Mining Contractors, Permit Holders, and Permittees for the 2023 Presidential Mineral Industry Environmental Awards (PMIEA), Mining Forest Program – Best Mining Forest Contest (BMFC), Safest Mines Awards (SMA), and Best Mines Personalities Awards.
Companies with active mining, mineral processing, or mineral exploration activities for period of July 2022 to June 2023 that have demonstrated exemplary performance in management of mine safety and health, environment, and social or community development, and rehabilitation initiatives are qualified for the said Awards.
Through the Memorandum of the MGB Director dated June 15, 2023, all MGB Regional Offices (ROs) were instructed to inform all mining entities within their jurisdiction that nomination for the various awards is now open. More so, MGB ROs were ordered to perform preliminary evaluation of the Safety and Health, Environmental, and Social Development and Management (SHES) accomplishments of all Contractors, Permit Holders, and Permittees applying for nomination.
Mining Contractors, Permit Holders, and Permittees who intend to join are expected to adhere with the minimum requirements of the subject award/s. The existing guidelines on the validation and selection for the PMIEA, BMFC, and SMA that require nominees to submit PMIEA/MFP write-up, supporting SHES and MFP documents, and audio-visual presentation as part of their entry shall remain. Entry documents, preferably as electronic files, together with the endorsement of the respective MGB Regional Offices, shall be submitted to MGB Central Office via electronic mail (This email address is being protected from spambots.
