On June 5, 2023, key personnel from the Mines and Geosciences Bureau’s (MGB) Metallurgical Technology Division (MetD) and Administrative Division participated in the national gathering of project leaders of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) – Philippine Council for Industry, Energy and Emerging Technology Research and Development (PCIEERD) at the Dusit Thani Hotel, Makati City.
The gathering was held to give insights on strategies to effectively manage financial, administrative, and technical concerns based on the Department of Science and Technology’s (DOST) guidelines during project implementation.
Project leader presenters from different agencies managed to successfully accomplish the expected outputs, impacts and outcomes of their respective projects which were funded thru the Grant-in-Aid Program (GIA) of the DOST and monitored by PCIEERD.
The following are topics that were discussed on the event:
- Hurdling Challenges through Effective Project Management (both Technical and Administrative)
- Addressing Financial Challenges through Effective Project Management
- Translating standards and policies as outputs of Projects (with regulatory agencies as beneficiary or cooperating agency)
- Managing Projects for an Ecosystem of Partners
- Transition of IDP Labs to R&D Implementer
The MeTD currently has an ongoing program composed of three (3) projects that commenced on April 2021 amounting to PhP17,803,039.28 which was also funded by the DOST and closely monitored by PCIEERD. Moreover, two (2) additional project proposals were also submitted and are under evaluation for DOST F.Y. 2025 funding amounting to approximately PhP83 Million.
