The Mines and Geosciences Bureau (MGB) Central Office conducted a webinar on Orientation on Mining and Geosciences for the Students and Teachers last September 7, 2023 via Microsoft Teams and Facebook Live.

The webinar orientation aims to achieve baseline information on the positive impacts particularly on students and teachers in the academe.

MGB OIC-Director Atty. Danilo U. Uykieng officially opened the program through a welcome message to the participants. The participants included High School students, teachers, and Department of Education (Deped) Personnel.

Meanwhile, resource speakers from MGB include Mr. Raymond Thaddeus Ancog of the Lands Geological Survey Division, Engr. Jaypee D. Juanerio of the Mining Technology Division, Engr. Danny P. Berches from the Mine Safety, Environment and Social Development Division, and Engr. Karl Justine V. Abang of the Metallurgical Technology Division.

The speakers discussed topics such as Basic Geology, Rocks, Minerals and Geologic Hazards, Mining 101, Environmental Management in Mining Operations, and Introduction to Mineral Processing. The question and answer portion, facilitated by, Ms. Dea Acuna, host of the said event, was conducted after all the presentations were discussed.

At the end of the webinar, participants were requested to answer the online training evaluation form to gather the feedbacks and recommendations about the activity. Engr. Romualdo D. Aguilos, Chief of the Mineral Economics, Information and Publication Division, delivered his closing remarks and thanked the students and teachers for participating in this event.

This activity is part of the Information, Education and Communication (IEC) campaign – a means to impart awareness and advocacy to young learners on the mandates and environmental programs of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources – MGB, in partnership with Deped and academe.
