Thirty-five (35) mining and mineral processing companies are vying for the 2023 Presidential Mineral Industry Environmental Award (PMIEA) and presently being subjected to field validation by the PMIEA Selection Committee (PMIEASC), Secretariat, and Technical Working Group.

Last September 07, 2023, the PMIEASC discussed the results of the review of compliance with the minimum requirements and of the initial evaluation. The following companies were confirmed as official nominees for this year’s selection:

The PMIEA was established under Executive Order No. 399 on February 03, 1997 to recognize the unwavering contribution of mining and mineral processing companies in the achievement of sustainable minerals development in the country. Similarly, the Mining Forest Program was promulgated to efforts on mine rehabilitation and reforestation through Department of Environment and Natural Resources Administrative Order No. 22, Series of 1989 in re: Guideline for the Implementation of Adopt-A-Tree, Adopt-A-Mining Forest Movement and NEC Resolution No. 2005-02 dated October 26, 2005 in re: Changing Adopt-A-Tree, Adopt-A-Mining Forest Movement into Mining Forest Program.
