The Philippine Mine Safety and Environment Association (PMSEA), alongside the Philippine Society of Mining Engineers (PSEM) held the Minerals Industry Symposium last November 16 at CAP John Hay Cultural and Trade Center, Camp John Hay, Baguio City.
The symposium started when the PSEM Northern Luzon Chapter President Engr. Roel A. Collado delivered his Welcome Remarks, followed by PSEM President Engr. Donald G. Estrella who delivered the PSEM message.
Meanwhile, Australian Ambassador to the Philippines, Her Excellency, Hae Kyong Yu and Canadian Ambassador to the Philippines, His Excellency David Hartman also gave their messages in the symposium. They shared about their respective countries’ best practices in mining, and ensured their countries’ support and partnership with the Philippines.
On the other hand, Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) Secretary Maria Antonia Yulo Loyzaga delivered her Keynote Speech. She assured that the DENR supports the call to responsible mining.
The symposium was attended by PSEM Members, Stakeholders, and Delegates of the Mining Industry around the country. Overall, there were 17 papers and case studies presented by the notable men and women of the mineral industry.
This is part of the 69th Annual National Mine Safety and Environment Conference (ANMSEC), with the theme, “Mining 4.0: Safer, Smarter and Sustainable.”
