The Philippine Youth Association for Responsible Mining and Natural Resources (YAMAN) conducted the 8th YAMAN Philippines Congress last November 15-17 at the Marigold Hall, Hotel Henrico Legarda, Baguio City with the theme Constellations of Change: Navigating Through A Brighter Future.
As soon as the student-delegates arrived, the congress commenced with a tree planting activity at the Baguio Botanical Garden, followed by a visit to the 69th Annual National Mine Safety and Environment Convention (ANMSEC) Mining Exhibit. Meanwhile, a welcoming night was held to orient the delegates, and introduce the officers, partners, and sponsors.
During Day 2, the Ultimate Yaman Quiz Bee, and the Youth Leader’s Forum: Debate were held at the morning, while the Youth Leader’s Forum: Research Colloquium was held in the afternoon.
On the other hand, the YAMAN Awards Night was also held later that afternoon, wherein YAMAN Philippines officers, and student organizations composed of mining, geology and metallurgy students across the country were recognized for their endeavours. Mines and Geosciences Bureau (MGB) Director Atty. Danilo U. Uykieng delivered his inspirational message, recognizing the student-delegates as the future leaders of the mining industry.
The 2nd day festivities ended with the Mr. and Ms. YAMAN Philippines, wherein the crowned contestants would get to represent YAMAN Philippines as its ambassadors.
The 3-day event concluded with the participation of all the student-delegates in the Minerals Industry Parade held at the Melvin Jones Park. The congress was attended by 220 student-delegates from different colleges and universities in Philippines.
