Executive Order No. 02, also known as the Freedom of Information (FOI) Program, aims to promote openness and transparency within government operations by granting citizens the right to access information held by public authorities. The Records Officers' Workshop provided a crucial opportunity for professionals responsible for managing and disseminating public records to collaborate and refine their strategies for implementing the FOI Program.

The Mines and Geosciences Bureau Central and Regional Offices conducted the online Records Officers' Workshop & Review of FOI Implementation on September 18-19, 2023, the Officer-In-Charge of the Records Management Section Ms. Fe Jocelyn D. Francisco, FOI Focal Person of MGB attended the 2023 FOI Receiving Officers (FRO) Hangouts.

The following topics discussed were:

  • • MMDA’s Best Practices
  • • New Features of the eFOI Portal
  • • Categories & Criteria for the 2023 FOI Awards
  • • Review of FOI Implementation
  • • Changes in the submission of 2023 FOI PBB Requirements
  • • Proposed Policy on Overdue Request

The said online workshop concluded with the formulation of action plans and recommendations to enhance the FOI implementation process. These initiatives included the adoption of advanced information management systems, increased collaboration between agencies, and ongoing capacity-building programs for records officers.

The online Records Officers' Workshop not only served as a forum for knowledge exchange but also reinforced the government's dedication to upholding the principles of transparency, accountability, and open governance.
