The Mines and Geosciences Bureau attended the recently concluded Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) Year-End Capability Building Seminar-Workshop for the Luzon Cluster, focusing on the robust operation of its Action Center and the efficient handling of the Hotline 8888 ticket resolution. This pivotal event, held from January 15 to 18, 2024, at Ciudad Christhia 9 Waves Resort in San Mateo, Rizal, brought together the Hotline 8888 Focal Persons (FPs) from the DENR Central Office, Bureaus, Attached Agencies, Provincial Environment Natural Resources Offices and other stakeholders of the Luzon area in a concerted effort to enhance environmental governance and responsiveness.
The seminar-workshop was specifically designed to address the growing environmental management challenges and streamline the processes related to the DENR Action Center and the 8888 government hotline, a critical platform for public service and accountability. The event emphasized the importance of swift and effective resolution of environmental concerns reported by the public, reflecting the government's commitment to transparency and public engagement.
Over the four-day event, participants from various regional offices in Luzon engaged in discussions of the DENR Action Center Manual of Operations and the designations of the FPs and evaluation. These sessions were facilitated by experts in environmental policy, information technology, and public administration, aiming to equip the DENR staff with advanced skills in managing environmental issues and complaints lodged through the 8888 hotline.
The workshop also included sessions on effective communication strategies, fostering a culture of excellence in public service, and using technology to monitor and address environmental violations. Participants were encouraged to share best practices and challenges from their respective regions, fostering a collaborative approach to environmental governance.
