The Mines and Geosciences Bureau (MGB) Central Office Gender and Development (GAD) Focal Point System (GFPS) conducted a Training-Workshop on Gender and Development Accomplishment Report and GFPS Functionality Assessment Tool for National Government Agencies (NGA) last January 23-26, 2024, at Ardenhills Suites, Sct. Albano, Quezon City.
The training workshop aimed to enhance the capacities of the MGB GFPS in both the central and regional offices in institutionalizing GAD perspective within the agency. Engr. Romualdo D. Aguilos delivered the opening remarks of the MGB OIC-Director.
Ms. Diory G. Carr, GAD Focal Person presented the program of activities, and briefly discussed the objectives of the 4-day workshop. The Regional Offices then presented their GAD accomplishments for 2023, Regional Offices (RO) I-VIII on Day 1, and ROs IX-XIII and CAR on Day 2.
Meanwhile, during Day 2, Dr. Marylin Q. Lalican, Chief of the Laboratory and Experimental Services Division of the Ecosystems Research and Development Bureau (ERDB) presented updates on the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) GAD Sectoral Baseline Data Gathering, followed by the presentation of the Draft Sectoral Questionnaire by Engr. Jaypee D. Juanerio from MGB CO.
On the other hand, Mr. Pent Elyria Dawn V. Liongson, an Independent GAD Specialist, discussed and facilitated the workshop on the GFPS Functionality Assessment Tool for NGAs during Day 3 of the workshop.
The activities concluded on Day 4 with reviewing the Enhanced Gender Mainstreaming Evaluation Framework (GMEF) Entry points by Mr. Liongson, Review of the Enhanced GMEF Score of MGB by MGB-CO GFPS, and the Synthesis and Ways Forward.
The GAD Focal Persons from the different divisions of MGB CO and Regional Offices attended the training-workshop, with Ms. Gianne Capulong and Ms. Mary Angeline Gondranios as the program emcees.
