In commemoration of the 2024 Chemistry Week, the Kapisanang Kimika ng Pilipinas (KKP), in collaboration with De La Salle University (DLSU) Department of Chemistry and DLSU Central Instrumentation Facility, orchestrated a conference tailored for chemistry graduate students and key stakeholders last February 15, 2024, at De La Salle University (DLSU) -, Manila Campus.

Mines and Geosciences Bureau’s (MGB) Metallurgical Technology Division (MeTD) Chemists Estella Clarisse Glifonea, Marylle F. Del Castillo, and John D. Arsenal, were among the participants of the said event.

Central themes included showcasing the diverse range of Chemistry Graduate programs available nationwide, advancing graduate studies to meet evolving demands, and implementing strategies to bolster student participation in academic pursuits.

The speakers include Commission on Higher Education (CHED) Technical Panel for Chemistry Chair Dr. Fortunato Sevilla III, UPLB Chancellor and CHED Technical Panel Chair Dr. Jose V. Camacho, Jr., DLSU Vice President for Research and Innovation Dr. Raymond Girard Tan, and University of Sto. Tomas Professor Emeritus, Dr. Maribel Nonato.

The conference served as a platform to underscore the pivotal role of research endeavors within academic institutions, fostering synergistic partnerships between public and private entities.

Such collaborative gatherings not only facilitate knowledge exchange but also serve as catalysts for innovation across various sectors. By uniting chemists and allied professionals from disparate organizations, these events lay the groundwork for transformative advancements in our nation's scientific landscape.
