The Mines and Geosciences Bureau (MGB) Gender and Development Focal Point System (GFPS) held the “2024 GAD Forum: Understanding GAD-Related Laws and Policies” last March 20, 2024, at the LGSD Crispin Hall, MGB Central Office, Quezon City, and online via Microsoft Teams.
This was attended by employees from the MGB Central and Regional Offices.
Engr. Marcial H. Mateo, Chief of the Mine Safety, Environmental, and Social Development Division, delivered his message to all the participants. He mentioned that the laws and policies in this forum should be shared with the rest of the employees.
The forum proper commenced with the Civil Service Commission Resolution No. 01-0940, re: “Administrative Disciplinary Rules on Sexual Harassment Cases,” which was delivered by Atty. Jolly P. Torres, Chief of the Promotion and Advocacy Division, Commission on Human Rights.
Meanwhile, Gabriela Women’s Party Secretary General Ms. KJ Catequista presented with “Stand Up and Speak Up! Safety Begins with You” (Things To Do at the Instance Of Violence).
Lastly, Hon. Josefina P. Valencia, Senior Assistant Provincial Prosecutor of Naga City, Camarines Sur, shared the salient provisions of Republic Act Nos. 9262, 7877, 11313, re: “Procedures in the Prosecution of VAW(Violence Against Women) Cases.” All speakers had a Question and Answer session after each presentation.
The event ended with the closing remarks by GAD Focal Person, Ms.Diory G. Carr. She encouraged everyone not to be afraid to inform the management should there be any cases of VAW in the workplace.
At the end of the Forum, the participants hoped for more GAD Forums and activities like these to raise more awareness of VAW and women’s rights.
