This was followed by a keynote address by Usec. Joselin Marcus E. The said library showcases a wide range of wood specimens, timber samples, and seed collections of the Philippines’ endemic and non-endemic species donated by the University of the Philippines Los Baños - College of Forestry and Natural Resources, various Provincial Environment and Natural Resources and Community Environment and Natural Resources Offices and TVI Resources Development, Inc.

This launching of the Xylarium/Wood and Seed Library is part of the celebration of the International Day of Forests (IDF) every 21st of March of the year, with the theme “Forests and Innovation: New Solutions for a Better World”. The launching also aims to promote innovation in the forestry sector by showcasing the diverse applications of the technologies being utilized in the management, conservation, and development of Philippines forests.

The IDF is a global observance being held annually to raise awareness of the importance of forests to people and their vital role in poverty eradication, environmental sustainability, and food security.

The said library is open to the public from 8AM to 4PM and is located at the FMB Compound, Visayas Avenue, Diliman, Quezon City. Further, mining companies are encouraged to visit the Xylarium/Wood and Seed Library which is vital in strengthening their rehabilitation of mined-out areas in the country.
