The Mines and Geosciences Bureau (MGB) Administrative Division, alongside the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), spearheaded the conduct of the Orientation on Workplace Safety: Fire Protection and Safety Training last March 23, 2024.

The orientation was attended by forty (40) participants from the Administrative Division, Security Services, and Janitorial Services.

The learning event started with an opening ceremony and program preliminaries. SFO1 Donna G. Esguerra from the BFP led the brief but comprehensive training course on fire safety and prevention.

The topics include the General Principles of Fire, its Development and Propagation; and the Principles of Fire Suppression. After the discussion, the participants were able to experience first-hand the proper use of fire extinguishers and fire hose.

This orientation aimed to capacitate the Janitorial and Security Services in the various areas of Occupational Safety and Health Standards, specifically identifying the key features of the Evacuation Plan and the proper usage of the fire extinguishers.

The regular conduct of the activity has been recommended by the BFP and it has been suggested that this Office will avail the three-day comprehensive training on Strategies and Procedures for effective Fire and Disaster Emergency Incident Response: Fire and Disaster Incident Management.
