The Mines and Geosciences Bureau (MGB) Gender and Development Focal Point System (GFPS) conducted the 2024 GAD Forum: Understanding Related Laws and Policies (Batch 2) last May 10, 2024 via Microsoft Teams.
Engr. Marcial H. Mateo, Chief of the Mine Safety, Environment and Social Development Division, delivered the opening remarks of MGB Director Atty. Danilo U. Uykieng. It was followed by the pre-test which was answered by the participants.
The forum started with Mr. Pent Elyria Dawn V. Liongson discussing Gender Development, Gender Sensitivity, and Sexual Orientation, Gender Identity and Gender Expression (SOGIE). Mr. Liongson emphasized the importance of these topics in the community especially in the workplace.
On the other hand, the afternoon session focused on Gender-based Laws, which was discussed by City of Manila Public Prosecutor, Hon. Glenn Romano. He presented the Gender Based Violence and Salient Provisions of Republic Act (RA) No. 9262 (Anti-Violence against Women and their Children Act), RA No. 7877 (Anti-Sexual Harassment Act of 1995) and RA No. 11313 (Safe Spaces Act).
Both sessions had a portion wherein participants get to ask questions and express their sentiments towards the GAD-related topics.
The forum concluded with the closing remarks of GAD Focal Person, Ms.Diory G. Carr. She mentioned about how one day isn’t enough for a GAD Forum, and that it should be continuously learned.
After the forum, participants then answered the Post-Test and Training Evaluation. Overall, there were more than 150 MGB employees from the Central and Regional Offices participated in this forum.
