On June 12, 2024, the Mines and Geosciences Bureau (MGB) participated in the national celebration held at Quirino Grandstand in Manila City to honor the 126th anniversary of Philippine independence.
Together with other government agencies, MGB joined in the "Parada ng Kalayaan" (Freedom Day Parade), featuring floats representing key historical events and government agencies.
The festivities were organized by the National Historical Commission of the Philippines (NHCP) and focused on the country's continuous endeavors to build a prosperous future. This year’s theme was "Kalayaan. Kinabukasan. Kasaysayan."
NHCP Chairperson Lisa Guerrero Nakpil and Armed Forces of the Philippines Chief of Staff General Romeo Brawner Jr., President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. led a solemn flag-raising and wreath-laying ceremony at Rizal Park, Luneta, to kick off the day's events. Additional celebrations were held across the country at significant historical locations, fostering a sense of cohesion and patriotism.
