As the Philippine Council for Industry, Energy, and Emerging Technology Research and Development (PCIEERD) of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) celebrated its 14th Anniversary last June 28 of this year, four representatives of the Metallurgical Technology Division (MeTD) of the Mines and Geosciences Bureau (MGB) attended the said celebration at the Dusit Thani Hotel in Makati City.
With the theme “Celebrating 14 years of Transforming Innovation towards Impact”, this aims to inspire further advancements through recognition of key innovative milestones over the past 14 years while acknowledging the journey of how it has positively influenced the Philippine society, economy, and technology.

The attendance of MeTD representatives highlights the relationship of the Bureau with both DOST and PCIEERD through their funded research projects of the MeTD Division with value-addition to the Philippine nickel and iron mineral resources as its main objective. A total of four projects have been completed since 2018, two of which were funded by DOST while the other two by PCIEERD.
As a continuing commitment of MGB to further the advancement in the utilization of mineral resources technology, a recently approved PCIEERD-funded research project focused on the value-addition of chromite mineral resources is awaiting contract signing for its anticipated commencement – a testament to the continuing professional and productive relationship between the Bureau and DOST.
