The various Selection Committees and the Mines and Geosciences Bureau (MGB) announced the commencement of the selection for the 2024 Presidential Mineral Industry Environmental Awards (PMIEA), Mining Forest Program (MFP) – Best Mining Forest Contest (BMFC), Safest Mines Awards (SMA), and Best Mining Personalities Awards.

Companies with active mining, mineral processing, or mineral exploration activities for the entire period of July 2023 to June 2024 are expected to signify their interest/application to be nominated for the said contests. Mining/mineral processing/exploration companies who have demonstrated performance beyond compliance in all aspects of their respective operation (i.e., safety and health, environment, rehabilitation, social development, and management, innovations, and fiscal and tenement obligations) are qualified for the above-mentioned Awards.

Through the Memorandum of the MGB Director dated June 18, 2024, all MGB Regional Offices (ROs) were instructed to announce to all mining entities within their jurisdiction that nomination for the various awards is now open. The official nomination of applicants shall be based on MGB RO’s evaluation/assessment of their compliance with various minimum requirements and the submission of pertinent documents.

Each entry shall include PMIEA/MFP write-up, supporting SHES and/or MFP documents, and audio-visual presentation/s. An electronic version/copy of entry documents, together with the endorsement of the respective MGB ROs, shall be submitted to MGB Central Office via electronic mail (This email address is being protected from spambots.
