The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) hosted a Crisis Communications Planning Workshop from September 9 to 14, 2024, at La Jolla Beach Resort, Bagac, Bataan. The event aims to equip information officers from various DENR regions, bureaus, and attached agencies with effective crisis management, news writing, photography, and social media planning skills.

Engr. Edgar C. Madera, Chief of the Mineral Information and Publication Section of the Mineral Economics, Information and Publication Division represented the Mines and Geosciences Bureau (MGB) at the event. His participation highlighted the MGB's involvement in the initiative to enhance communications strategies.

The workshop, authorized under Special Order No. 2024-564, includes notable participants such as Assistant Secretary Rochelle Elena Gamboa with Regional Executive Directors of DENR Regional Offices, and the Regional Directors of MGB and Environment Management Bureau Regional Offices. Training sessions focus on key areas, including social media management, news coverage, and handling media interviews, led by experts like Ms. Karla Marie Penalba, and Messrs. Artemio T. Engracia Jr. and Jay Jay Orense.

The program concludes with an awarding ceremony and closing remarks.
