The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), in collaboration with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), hosted a comprehensive webinar titled, "Circular Economy 101 for Media Professionals" on January 21, 2025. The event aimed to enhance media practitioners' awareness and understanding of circular economy principles and equip them to effectively communicate this critical approach to sustainable development.

The hybrid event, held at the Luxent Hotel in Quezon City and streamed via Zoom, brought together participants from various sectors, including government agencies, media outlets, and environmental advocates.

The Mines and Geosciences Bureau joined the webinar remotely to gain valuable insights on integrating circular economy principles into the bureau’s communication initiatives.

Dr. Noralene Uy, Assistant Secretary for Policy, Planning, International Affairs, and Climate Change, provided an insightful introduction to the circular economy, emphasizing its importance in addressing climate change and resource efficiency.

Engr. Voltaire Acosta, Deputy Project Manager of UNDP, discussed practical circular economy applications, while Engr. Esperanza Sajul, OIC Assistant Director of the Environmental Management Bureau, shared insights on compliance with Republic Act 11898, also known as the Extended Producer Responsibility Act of 2022.
