The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) - Mines and Geosciences Bureau (MGB) conducted the “National Unified Information, Education, and Communication Program (NUIECP) Communications Plan and Communications Workshop with Regional Directors” at SEDA Vertis North, Diliman, Quezon City on January 31, 2025. The participants include Regional Directors from the MGB Regional Offices, MGB Central Office Division Chiefs, and NUIECP Steering Committee officers and members. The said event aimed to enhance the understanding of NUIECP Communications Plan and foster collaboration for its implementation across regional offices.

Engr. Michael V. Cabalda, DENR Assistant Secretary for Mining Concerns and concurrent MGB OIC Director, delivered the welcome remarks, emphasizing the importance of cohesive communication efforts in promoting the bureau’s initiatives.

Atty. Ronald S. Recidoro, Chair of the NUIEC Steering Committee, presented an overview of the NUIECP and its financial report, providing insights into the program’s progress and funding status. This was followed by a detailed presentation of the NUIECP Communications Plan and Roadmap by the EON Group, highlighting key strategies, target audiences, and the critical role of regional offices in executing the plan’s activities.

Engr. Romualdo D. Aguilos, Chief of the Mineral Economics, Information, and Publication Division, outlined the MGB Communications Plan and aligned it with the NUIECP’s objectives.

The afternoon sessions focused on identifying regional communication needs, drafting action plans, and fostering collaborations. Regional Directors engaged in interactive discussions to map local challenges and opportunities, align existing IEC activities with the national plan, and establish key performance indicators for success.

Each region presented their action plans, receiving feedback from peers to refine their strategies. Engr. Aguilos discussed next steps, concluding the workshop by summarizing key takeaways and acknowledging the participants' commitment to the NUIECP.
