The Mines and Geosciences Bureau Gender and Development Focal Point System (MGB-GFPS) held the Training/Workshop on the 2024 GAD Accomplishment Report and Pre-Testing of the Interview Schedule for DENR Sectoral Baseline Data Gathering from January 28 to 31, 2025, at Park Inn by Radisson, North Edsa, Quezon City, and via Microsoft Teams.
The 4-day training-workshop was attended by the GAD Focals from the MGB Central Office and Regional Offices (ROs).
To officially open the program, Engr. Romualdo D. Aguilos, Chief of Mineral Economics, Information, and Publication Division delivered Assistant Secretary for Mining Concerns and Concurrent OIC Director Michael V. Cabalda’s Opening Remarks. The presentation of the objectives and rationale of the workshop followed this.
The Regional GAD focals then presented their respective ROs GAD accomplishments for 2024, upcoming activities for 2025, and perennial challenges. The session ended with the 2024 GAD Accomplishment of the Central Office.
For Day 2, GAD Specialist Mr. Don V. Liongson grouped the participants according to the MGB Programs as preparation for the FY2024 GAD Accomplishment Report writeshop. The whole morning session was spent on the writeshop.
During the afternoon session, Mr. Liongson discussed the minor comments given by the Philippine Commission on Women (PCW) to the 2025 GAD Plan and Budget (GPB) and reminded everyone to address these comments as soon as possible so the GPB can already be finalized.
Day 2 concluded with Ms. Diory Carr discussing how to effectively translate documents, followed by the Introduction to the Actual Conduct of Pre-Testing of a Survey Instrument as presented by Ms. Jenet C. Tejada, GAD Focal Person of the Ecosystems Research and Development Bureau (ERDB) in preparation for the pre-testing the next day.
Meanwhile, on Day 3, the MGB GFPS, together with the participants, conducted the actual Pre-testing of the Mining Sector Interview Schedule to the communities in Republic Cement and Building Materials Inc. (RCBMI) in Brgy. Dulumbayan, Teresa, Rizal.
On the last day, For. Nolie A. Molina and Ms. Jenet Tejada of ERDB evaluated the data gathered during the pre-testing activity conducted at the RCBMI communities in Teresa, Rizal.
The four-day training workshop concluded with the photo opportunity with all the participants, and the ways forward and Closing Remarks delivered by MGB-GAD Focal Person Ms. Diory Carr.
