In celebration of the 2025 National Women's Month, the MGB GAD Focal Point System's launch of the MGB Gender and Development Center is a pivotal step towards fostering inclusivity and enhancing women's health services. This facility, featuring a breastfeeding and lactation room, clinic, and dedicated GAD office, embodies the essence of this year's theme, "Babae sa Lahat ng Sektor, Aangat ang Bukas," which highlights collective progress towards gender equality. The establishment of such a center not only addresses immediate healthcare needs for women but also symbolizes a broader commitment to empowering women in various aspects of life.
The event commenced with messages from key DENR officials, including Ms. Elenida DR. Basug, Director of the Climate Change Service and DENR GAD Office. Ms. Basug's remarks highlighted the transformative potential of the MGB GAD Center as not only a facility that meets essential health needs but also as a symbol of progress in gender equality, inspiring other government agencies and offices to adopt similar initiatives. As more sectors recognize the transformative potential of such initiatives, the MGB GAD Center serves as an inspiring benchmark for others aiming to create inclusive environments that prioritize women's health and empowerment. On behalf of the DENR Assistant Sectary and concurrent MGB OIC Director, Engr. Michael V. Cabalda and MGB management, Engr. Teodorico Sandoval and Engr. Marcial Mateo conveyed the message of support and further highlighted the importance of this initiative in fostering an environment conducive to gender equity. The ribbon-cutting ceremony was followed by a guided tour showcasing the center's facilities and concluded with a solidarity breakfast that reinforced community support for women's empowerment initiatives.
Moreover, creating an inclusive care facility aligns with ongoing national efforts to protect women's rights and promote their well-being. As highlighted in recent proclamations regarding women's history, there is a pressing need to ensure equitable access to healthcare services. The MGB Gender and Development Center will serve as a model for other institutions striving to support women's health by providing essential resources that cater specifically to their needs.
Finally, this initiative represents more than just healthcare; it reflects a societal shift towards recognizing the unique challenges faced by women. Embracing this opportunity will not only honor past achievements but also pave the way for future advancements in women's rights. Through this center, MGB employees can actively participate in advocating for gender equity and supporting initiatives that contribute to lasting change for an inclusive and resilient society where no one is left behind.
