The Mines and Geosciences Bureau Employees Association Central Office Chapter (MGBEA CO) conducted a three-day seminar titled "Seminar on the Role of Mining and Geology in Everyday Living" from March 25 to 27, 2025. The event aimed to strengthen awareness of mining, metallurgy, and geology among MGB Central Office personnel.

In her opening remarks, MGBEA CO Acting President Ma. Lourdes Stephanie V. Leido stated that the seminar was organized to help employees better understand the relevance of these fields to national development.

The seminar featured presentations from various MGB divisions, including the Mining Tenements Management Division (MTMD), Lands Geological Survey Division (LGSD), Marine Geological Survey Division (MGSD), Mining Technology Division (MTD), Metallurgical Technology Division (MeTD), and Mine Safety, Environment and Social Development Division (MSESDD).

The structured lectures conducted during the first two days covered a range of topics, including the MGB's mandates and functions, laboratory services, mining operations, geological procedures, and the implementation of environmental and safety standards in mining. Discussions also addressed the role of ethical practices within the industry.

On the third day, participants visited Teresa Marble Corporation in Rizal. The site tour served to complement the seminar discussions by providing a direct look at operational mining activities and their practical applications.

This annual activity is part of MGBEA CO’s continuing efforts to inform its members about the various aspects of the mining and geosciences sector.
