Technical personnel of the Mineral Processing Research and Development Section (MPRDS), Metallurgical Technology Division (MeTD) of the Mines and Geosciences Bureau underwent training recently on the theory, use, operation, application and maintenance of the newly acquired Fritsch-A22 Particle Size Analyser.

The Fritsch-A22 Particle Size Analyser will be utilized in the conduct of research studies on the value-adding of Philippine minerals. It will be used for particle size analysis of raw ore samples and metallurgical products to determine the quality of grinding and establish the degree of liberation of the valuable minerals from the gangue/non-valuable minerals.

The acquisition of the said equipment is part of the MeTD's vision of a metallurgical research laboratory that is at par with international standards.

The training course, which consisted of lectures and hands-on operation, was conducted by Ms. Cristy Ramos and Ms. Jenalyn Collado of Guill-Bern Philippines; and Mr. Ding Go Cheng of Fritsch Singapore.

The training was held last February 4 and 29 at the MeTD Laboratory and was participated in by 10 technical personnel of the MeTD and two on-the-job trainees from the Mapua Institute of Technology.
