The Mines and Geosciences Bureau Employees Association (MGBEA) recently attended the 2016 First Quarter National President's Meeting of the Kalipunan ng mga Kawani ng Kagawaran ng Kalikasan (K4), on February 17 - 19, 2016 at the Ridgewood Residences in Baguio City.

The core of the meeting was the review and update of the K4 Constitution and By-Laws to allow the K4 Collective Negotiation Agreement to be registered with the Civil Service Commission and the provision of calamity assistance to DENR employees in need at Regions VIII, X and XII. Committees to focus on the said subjects, as well as other organizational issues were also created. Other topics discussed during the meeting were the sportsfest for the 2nd K4 meeting, and the approval of the 2015 4th K4 President's Minutes of the Meeting held last November 25-27, 2015.

Engr. Ralph C. Pablo, Regional Director-Cordillera Autonomous Region (CAR), and Ms. Leonarda R. Aguinalde, lecturer from Cordilleras University of Baguio City, were the guest speakers.
Mr. Ernesto H. Felix, officer of the MGBEA National and Central Office Chapter attended the meeting on behalf of the MGBEA National President Dr. Maybellyn A. Zepeda.

The K4 is the quarterly meeting of all the presidents or representatives of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) unions in the country. This year's theme is: "Excellence in Public Service."
