The Mines and Geosciences Bureau (MGB) recently approved the renewal of the Special Mines Permit (SMP) granted to Ore Asia Mining and Development Corporation (Ore Asia).

Ore Asia's permit (SMP No. 2013-01) covers a 442.4598 hectare area located in Doña Remedios Trinidad, Bulacan. The company's SMP was issued on December 5, 2014 and will expire on December 5, 2015.

The SMP grants Ore Asia to continue its quarrying operation in its permit area containing iron deposits for a maximum annual ore production of 60,000 metric tons only while waiting for the approval of its application for Mineral Production Sharing Agreement (APSA-000041-III).

The approval of the SMP is in accordance with Section 48 of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources Administrative Order No. 2010-21, the Implementing Rules and Regulations of Republic Act No. 7942, the Philippine Mining Act of 1995.
