Aimed at helping the employees who are scheduled for retirement in availing the best retirement scheme and wisely investing their benefits, the Mines and Geosciences Bureau (MGB) recently held the “Retirement Opportunities: Beyond the Basics Seminar”.
Twenty-five (25) employees who are scheduled to retire from service within the next five years (2015-2019) participated in the said seminar held on January 22, 2015 at the Oscar Crispin Hall, PETROLAB Building, MGB.
Mr. Noel C. Alvarez, OIC-Manager of the Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) Quezon City Branch Office and Mr. Gilbert V. Mercado, Senior Account Management Specialist of Pag-IBIG Fund Kamias Branch served as the resource persons of the event.
Mr. Alvarez tackled the various programs and services that GSIS offers with emphasis on the different retirement schemes that can be availed by those in the government service. He also discussed the undistributed amount of MGB and other relevant issues with the person responsible for the electronic remittance filing. The participants lauded Mr. Alvarez for his efforts to settle the said undistributed amount and promised to personally handle the issue.
Mr. Mercado, on the other hand, discussed the status of Pag-IBIG Fund, as well as the various services and investment program Pag-IBIG offers. He emphasized the Pag-IBIG II program, which encourages Fund members to invest a minimum of PhP500 monthly for a maximum period of five (5) years. Said investment can only be withdrawn after 5 years with dividends. Many of the participants expressed their eagerness to invest in the said program.
Giving assistance to elaborate on Pag-IBIG programs, Ms. Mary Grace Dela Peña, talked about the loan services, like the Multi-Purpose Loan (MPL) and the Calamity Loan.
