A total 723 examinees, composed of employees and outside applicants, took the simultaneous nationwide recruitment tests administered by the Mines and Geosciences Bureau (MGB) recently.  Said examinations are part of the recruitment process prescribed by the Civil Service Commission (CSC) in order to select the right people for the right job.  This is also pursuant to the approved Merit Selection and Promotion Plan of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources.

Some 125 vacant positions, ranging from rank and file to division chief level, are scheduled to be filled up in the MGB Central and Regional Offices.

Three sets of examinations were given in two days: 1) General Aptitude Test (GAT), 2) Ethics Oriented Personality Test (EOPT); and 3) Job Knowledge Test (JKT).  The first two were administered online.

The GAT is a timed examination where applicants were given 15 minutes to answer 57 questions. The EOPT was given in two categories: 1) rank and file, and 2) managerial positions.  The JKT is focused on the level of knowledge the applicant has for the position applied for.

The MGB contracted the services of Behavioral Dynamic, Inc. in conducting GAT and EOPT on March 6, 2015 while the JKT was administered on March 7, 2015.

Proctors, composed of senior and supervisory employees of the MGB Central Office, were deployed in all Regional Offices to oversee the administration of the exams.

Ms. Edna R. Lorilla, Officer-in-Charge of MGB Administrative Division, and Ms. Elvie C. Antenor, Recruitment Officer, spearheaded the preparations for the examinations and expressed satisfaction with the turnout of examinees.
