Personnel of the Environmental Crime Division (EnCD) of the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) were recently deputized by the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) as Deputy Environment and Natural Resources Officers thru the DENR Special Order No. 2017-47 dated January 30, 2017.

The said Deputation Order updated and strengthened the authority and command of the NBI personnel concerned and also widened the scope of responsibility of NBI-EnCD, which now includes regulatory concerns on illegal logging and other forms of environmental crimes.

In the early part of 2016, the Mines and Geosciences Bureau also issued a Deputation Order involving certain personnel of the same NBI Division, which brought about successful results from joint operations conducted, particularly against illegal mining operations in different parts of the country.
