The Mines and Geosciences Bureau (MGB) joins in the celebration of the 28th National Statistics Month last October 2017.

The MGB participated in several activities during the whole month of October which included art contests and lecture series in different schools.

Last October 26, MGB Central Office representative Mr. Patrick Ramos, along with the other participants from the regional offices, Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) attached agencies and Office of the Secretary,  met at the DENR Central Office’s Social Hall to join the water-color painting contest.

Each participant was given art materials and three hours to paint their thoughts on this year’s theme: “Facts and Figures for the Future: Statistics for Evidence-based Decision towards AmBisyon 2040.”

The winner is yet to be announced.

Last October 11, MGB Senior Geologist Mr. Raymond Ancog joined the lecture series and discussed the ‘National Geohazards Mapping and Assessment Program of the MGB-DENR Minimizing Risk on Disaster for Safer Communities,’ at the Manuel G. Araullo High School in Manila.

Other activities included maintenance work at the tree-planting site in Pintong Bukawe, San Mateo, Rizal last October 20 and a game entitled ‘DENR says’ last October 27.

The month-long celebration is pursuant to the Presidential Proclamation No. 647 dated September 20, 1990, which declared October of every year as National Statistics Month and Memorandum Circular No. 01-16 issued by the National Statistics Authority enjoining all government agencies to participate in the 28th National Statistics Month.
