The Mineral Economics, Information and Publications Division of the Mines and Geosciences Bureau (MGB) Central Office, is set to conduct a one-day stakeholders’ forum on February 1, at Hotel Rembrandt in Quezon City.
The forum, with the theme: “MGB Stanch towards a Deeper Appreciation of Mining and its Relevance,” will serve as a timely venue for the exchange of ideas and information on mining – how to achieve responsible mining, private sector’s response to Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) Secretary Roy A. Cimatu’s challenge on responsible mining as embodied in the Baguio Declaration, and best practices in mining and mineral processing.
Speakers include Atty. Analiza Rebuelta-Teh, DENR Undersecretary for Climate Change Service and Mining Concerns; Engr. Rodolfo L. Velasco, Jr., MGB Mine Safety, Environment and Social Development Division Chief; and the two winners of the 1st ASEAN Mineral Awards, namely: Mr. Gerard Brimo, President for Rio Tuba Nickel Mining Corp.; and Mr. Jose P. Leviste, Jr., Chairperson for OceanaGold Philippines.
The forum will be attended by the top management of the DENR Central Office, its attached agencies and line bureaus.
