The event was attended by the personnel from MSESDD and Mine Management Division of MGB RO No. XIII, MGB Dinagat Island Satellite Office, MGB personnel assigned at the Community Environment and Natural Resources Office and Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Office in Region XIII.

The Capability Building focuses on standardizing the evaluation of the following plan / programs: Three-year Development / Utilization Work Program; Exploration Work Program; Environmental Work Program; Environmental Protection and Enhancement Program; Final Mine Rehabilitation and/or Decommissioning Plan; Social Development and Management Program; Safety and Health Program; as well as corresponding monitoring checklist and scorecard.

The said checklist and scorecard will serve as an evaluation tool for a mining company in terms of its compliance with safety and health, environment, social development and tenements. The scores that will be generated from the checklist will serve as a guide in benchmarking mining companies nationwide.

The said monitoring checklist and scorecard was pilot tested during the conduct of the quarterly monitoring of certain metallic mining operations in Region XIII which took place after the Capability Building from March 2 – March 16, 2018.
