The 65th Annual National Mine Safety and Environment Conference (ANMSEC) will be held in CAP-John Hay Trade and Cultural Center, Baguio City on November 20-23, 2018.
The event is organized by the Philippine Mine Safety and Environment Association, the country's forerunner in the promotion of occupational safety and health, sound environmental management and social responsibility in the minerals industry, in coordination with the Department of Environment and Natural Resources-Mines and Geosciences Bureau, the Chamber of Mines of the Philippines, the Philippine Society of Mining Engineers (PSEM), mining companies, quarries, cement plants, suppliers, service contractors and other professional organizations.
The theme for the 65th ANMSEC is “Industry and Regulator Together in Promoting and Advocating Responsible Mining”. Annually, various sectors in the mining industry, such as mining contractors, mining suppliers, academe, students, professional organizations, community development officers, government officials and employees attend the celebration of ANMSEC in Baguio City.
Below is the schedule of the week-long activities for this year's event:
The highlight of the much-awaited event in the mining industry are the following:
- PMSEA Immersion and Excursion Activity with Baguio Students
- Welcome Cocktails at Baguio Country Club
- Sports Fest (Badminton, Golf, Bowling and Lawn Tennis)
- Mining Exhibit by Mining Companies and Suppliers
- 4th National Minerals Industry Student Congress of students taking up BS Mining Engineering, BS Geology, BS Metallurgical Engineering and other related mining and geology courses
- 6th Community Relations Officers Conference in cooperation with National Community Relations Practitioners in the Philippine Mining/Minerals Industry
- Minerals Industry Symposium in cooperation with Philippine Society of Mining Engineers
- Minerals Industry Parade
- Mine Safety Field Demonstration and Field Competition on First Aid, Machine Drilling, Hand Mucking, Tug-of-Peace, Fire Extinguishing and Fire Brigade)
The culminating activity in the celebration of ANMSEC is the Testimonial Dinner and Annual Awards Night. The winners vying for the Presidential Mineral Industry Environmental Award for best mining practices in the country will be awarded to mining companies engaged in mineral exploration, quarry operation, surface mining operation, underground mining operation and mineral processing. Also, winners of the Best Mining Forest Contest, Safest Mines Awards and Best Mines Personalities will be awarded during the said event.
