The Mines and Geosciences Bureau (MGB) participated in an inter-agency meeting organized by the Board of Investments (BOI).

The MGB Central Office participated in the Second Inter-Agency Meeting on Formulation of the Comprehensive Philippine Reservation List for Investments and Services under a Negative List, Two-Annex Approach, on November 13-16, 2018 in Taal Vista, Tagaytay City.

During the meeting, the BOI discussed the agreement between the Department of Justice and BOI’s legal provisions, law and limitations on the following sectors: Educational Services, Construction and Related Engineering Services, Distribution Services, Business Services, Transportation Services and Financial Services.

On the first day, Atty. Marjorie O. Ramos-Samaniego, OIC-Executive Director, Management Service Group, BOI, welcomed the participants in her opening remarks; followed by a discussion on the Review of the Reservation List Drafting Concepts and Process, by Atty. Maricon A. Almonte and Atty. Stephanie M. Macapagal; and How to identify Performance Requirements (PRs) by Atty. Allan G. Revote.

The following days consisted of a series of presentations on the six sectors discussed during the First Inter-Agency Meeting; followed by a Critique by Experts/ Identification of PRs in 6 Sectors from First Inter-Agency; a presentation of six additional sectors: Communication Services; Environmental Services; Health Related and Social Services; Tourism and Related Services; Recreational, Cultural and Sporting Services; and lastly, a Critique by Experts/ Identification of PRs on six additional sectors.

It was also when MGB representatives Engr. Edgar Madera, Engineer III from the Mineral Economics, Information and Publications Division and Engr. Donald Ofalsa, Engineer III from the Mining Tenements Management Division, shared their inputs provisions on environmental services.

Other representatives from government agencies like Commission on Higher Education, Technical Education and Skills Development Authority, Securities and Exchange Commission, Department of Transportation, Department of Tourism, Department of Justice, Department of Energy, and Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas, also attended the event.
