The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) held the 1st Quarter Nationwide Simultaneous Earthquake Drill (NSED) 2019 last February 21, 2019 at exactly 2PM, led alongside national government agencies such as the Department of Education (DepEd) and Office of Civil Defense (OCD). The ceremonial pressing of a button for the drill began in Iloilo City, according to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology.

To show their support for the initiative, the Mines and Geosciences Bureau (MGB) employees participated the said drill. Employees evacuated their offices calmly and gathered in the parking area fronting Petrolab building. MGB encourages to do this drill regularly in order to boost awareness and preparedness during calamities like earthquakes.
