The Mines and Geosciences Bureau (MGB) lent a hand in providing lectures and case study discussions for the Environment and Natural Resources (ENR) Supervisory Course held at the ENR Academy, Carranglan, Nueva Ecija last June 15, 2019. Five (5) MGB officers provided their knowledge and expertise for the program.
The topics include: a) Mining Tenement, b) Mine Safety, c) Environment and Social Development, d) Mineral Processing, e) Geology/Hazard Mapping, f) Law Enforcement and g) Small-Scale Mining. Discussions on the basic principles of mining, along with the salient provision of Republic Act 7942, otherwise known as the “Philippine Mining Act of 1995” and Department Administrative Order 2010-21, or the “Revised Implementing Rules and Regulations of Republic Act No. 7942, Otherwise known as the Philippine Mining Act of 1995” was led by said officers. The session ended with a lecture on the particularities around the Minahang Bayan scheme and the awarding of small-scale mining contracts.
The Human Resource Development Services (HRDS) of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) has developed the ENR Academy Courses to ensure that all DENR personnel, including frontline officers, are equipped with the knowledge, skills and abilities needed to perform their responsibilities well.
