The Mines and Geosciences Bureau – Central Office (MGB-CO) conducted a “Training and Capability Building for MGB Personnel Responsible for Statistical Data and Analysis, Website Maintenance, and Information Dissemination” last October 14-18, 2019 at the Ciudad Christhia Resort, San Mateo, Rizal.

The seminar welcomed representatives from the Regional Offices’ Information, Education and Communication (IEC) staff. Concerns from both Statistics and IEC were duly discussed first, noting findings and recommendations for further enhancements on the Mineral Statistics Corner, as well as practicing communication through the use of the Microsoft Teams operating system.

Lectures on Data Visualization, Data Storytelling and Infographics were discussed by Mr. Jerome P. Lucas, Media Manager, National Wages and Productivity Commission. Free online softwares such as Canva and Adobe Spark were introduced to the participants, allowing them to explore and test their creativity through tasks challenging them to create their own infographics for MGB. The seminar wrapped up with updates on the #MineResponsibility campaign, letting the participants critique the raw versions of the online advertisement and television commercial respectively, as well as a session discussing the creation and standardization of official social media accounts of Regional Offices.
